KDE is a good DE but

FreeBooteR (not verified) on Sun, 01/10/2010 - 08:11

KDE is a good DE but unfortunatley needs some work in Dolphin. It crashes quite often but isn't a show stopper. At least in 4.3.4. Hopefully this is corrected in 4.4.

Did you report the bug to the developers? If not, do not expect to be fixed !!

i used to be a massive fan of kde 3.5. don't like 4, don't like it at all. i want my computer to do work, not to sit there poncing about with windows and that. function dictates design, and for that reason xfce is the winner

Tweaking for Sparsamkeit

I'd like to know if someone already benchmarked KDE4 with all frills turned off, such that it becomes equivalent to 3.5 -- just to know if there has been any evolution regarding economy of resources.

Thx fro any info one might have.

We need applications

KDE needs to put all its efforts in KOffice and Konqueror with games following in priority.

All the new things I see in these videos is not going to convince anyone outside the KDE team to switch.

OGV version?

Are these videos available in OGV somewhere? I have problem with my Flash player but OGV plays directly from Firefox.

I will have to second that vote. can it be done with OGV? It would also be nice if we could use openid. It would be much better than typing all this text into the text box.

Very impressive

This is definitely the most advanced, most modern and most beautiful desktop you can currently use on your computer. And it is great that despite this KDE is still advancing so much with each release.

Astounding music... and KDE is cool as always, but the improvements certainly look nice.

Thx for the work (KDE and this demo).

Gr8teful.

Cool

I like the new features a lot. I can see that Snap would be a good productivity tool. Especially on widescreens. Working with files, documents, pictures, whatever.
Also it is reassuring to see the animations and effects getting more mature. I hope Compiz-level is not far anymore.

But above all I hope that KDE guys would work more with GNOME, Xfce, Compiz, etc guys to unify the Linux Desktop experience

PS Nice inside reference on the background music with Jarre's Oxygen ;)

I think it's time to move to KDE now , but what about stability ? any issues there?

It is quite stable.
