KDE

A lot of people don't know that they can change their desktop wallpaper automatically by very easy steps in KDE. For the gnome's user, I think they need to install a program for doing this. As usual, this method are applicable for all KDE distributions.

1- From desktop, click right button and choose “Desktop Activity Settings”:

2- Then choose “SlideShow” in Type box.

KDE SC 4.5 is in feature freeze right now. Therefore, I decide to share some of early screenshots with you. In General there are no major changes. It is all about polishing and fixing bugs. There is a lot of under-hood changes in libs which as enduser we cannot see. KDE SC will be release in August 2010. Now I will let you enjoy the screenshots.

This is the default desktop (see the beautiful icons in system-tray ).

One of the things I like about KDE is the options. It is powerful and rich. In this post, I will show you how to customize your windows buttons. Normally you get the defaults windows decoration something like this:

There are five buttons there without any real benefit to me at least. I need only two of them the minimize one and close button. For maximize the window I use double click. The method (which I will tell you) is applicable to all KDE distributions (i.e. kubuntu, debian, opensuse, mandriva, and so on).

" With the release of KDE Software Compilation 4.4, many may feel tempted to give KDE Plasma Desktop (previously known as just “KDE”, see Repositioning the KDE Brand) a try. Plasma Desktop introduced in KDE SC 4 behaves quite differently from other popular desktop workspaces, and without doubt many new users will feel slightly lost and confused the first time.

The KDE project developers have announced the availability of version 4.4 of the KDE Software Compilation (KDE SC), code named "Caikaku". The major update to the free open source K Desktop Environment (KDE) addresses a number of bugs and includes several translation updates, stability improvements and new features.

-Forecasting: Skrooge is now able to draw some estimation of how a graph might look in the future.

The new version 1.0 from OpenOffice.org Thumbnail plugin has been released. OpenOffice.org Thumbnail plugin is a plugin for KDE file managers (Dolphin and Konqueror) to preview OpenOffice.org files (OpenDocument Format) as Thumbnails. You do not need to install OpenOffice.org for it to work (it only uses KDE API).

I think a lot of people are looking for this thumbnailer. This thumbnailer will help you to get a quick  glance at your OpenOffice.org's OpenDocument files.
Here is how the thumbnails look like in action:

ImagePerhaps you know how mount ISO image by commend line. However, If you are lazy - like me - to use Konsole, Silicon is a good choice for this task. I tried Furius ISO before, but I don't like it because it lacks KDE4's integration.

Silicon is an auto image manager and mounter (Iso, Squashfs and ... files) that work under GNU/Linux. It is released under GPL License.

Silicon has many features like:
- Automatic Mount : Silicon can autofind a mountpoint for your images and mount there.
